Rocky Representative to race at Commonwealth Games 2014.

Date: 7 April 2014

The Australian Swim Team for the 2014 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow has been announced following a week of world class action at the Australian Swimming Championships in Brisbane.

There are 15 Australian Swim Team rookies on the team – including Rockhampton's own Alanna Bowles.

Breaking the Junior World Record in the preliminaries, Bowles swam a 8:29.40, qualifying her second fastest into Saturday's final.

Standing behind her block, lane number 5, Bowles had Glasgow on the forefront of her mind. Alanna swam a highly impressive final in 8:30.52, just outside of the A standard of 8:27.41 but well inside the B standard of 8:34.33.

Next was the nervous waiting game, to hear the team announcement. After the final race on Sunday night, the coaches and team management resided to their meeting rooms to finalise the Australian Commonwealth Games team for next July.

As the team is announced Alanna walks out on pool deck at the Australian Swimming Championships as a member of the Australian Team going to Glasgow for the Commonwealth Games.

Congratulations Alanna Bowles from all at Lane 4 Aquatics.
